The courtroom falls silent as Alice steps forward. The Queen of Hearts glares from her throne, her fingers drumming on the armrest. 'Who is this child?' she demands, her voice a blade. Alice's heart pounds, but she lifts her chin. 'I am Alice. I came here by accident.' From the shadows, the Hatter sips his tea, the clink of porcelain the only sound. 'Accident?' the Queen snarls. 'There are no accidents in Wonderland. You are accused of trespass, of growing too large, of questioning the natural order.' She gestures, and card soldiers close in, their painted faces unreadable. Alice looks at the Hatter, hoping for a riddle, a clue. He only watches, his grin widening as he tilts his cup. The King whispers to the Queen, but she waves him off. 'We shall have a trial!' she declares. 'And if you are found guilty—' she pauses, letting the threat hang. Alice feels the weight of every eye. The room is packed with creatures she's met: the White Rabbit twisting his watch, the Cheshire Cat's grin floating near the ceiling, the Mock Turtle sobbing softly. This is no game. The trial begins.
